CD Download

If your CD or CD drive is damaged, you can download an electronic version from here. This page is not intended to freshen an existing installation, which can be done from the NoteSmith File, Online menu because freshening does not require all the files as does a new installation.

You will need your unique CD key to complete the installation. Your CD key is on the back of the plastic envelope in your printed manual. Do not download this file without a CD key in your possession.

A broadband internet connection (cable modem, satellite, or DSL) is recommended for a 2-4 minute download. We discourage trying to download from slower dial up connections as the file is about 20MB.

Print this page first before starting the download, then follow the directions carefully and exactly.

Download directions

1. Check the back of the CD sleeve in your printed manual for your unique CD key. If you do not have a printed manual and no one from Technical Support has already provided you with a CD key, do not download this file because it cannot be installed.
2. If you have your unique CD key, right click the file below and choose Save Target As.
3. Save it somewhere on your hard drive, preferably to a folder named C:\Download that you have already created from MyComputer. Net users might download to C:\Program Files\Princeton which also should be accessible from NoteSmith workstations.
4. After the download completes, double click MyComputer, then the C: drive, and finally the folder where you saved the file.
5. Right mouse click the file, choose Rename from the pop up menu, and rename it to NSSetup08.exe. We renamed the file so your virus checker would not block your access to it.
6. Double click the NSSetup08.exe file to start the installation.

Optional files

The items below are optional and therefore not included with the setup files above. The NoteSmith CD automates the installation of these items, so use the CD if you are not able to download and manipulate ZIP files.

PDF Reader: You may need to install the Adobe Acrobat Reader to read the NoteSmith manual on screen.

PDF Converter: For Pro and Net users only who wish to print reports as PDF files, download NS-to-PDF.zip. WindowsXP will treat this zip file as a folder, so simply go to File, Setup, PDF, then find the installation file inside the NS-to-PDF folder.

Tutorial: Download NSTutorial.pdf into your NoteSmith program folder and it will be accessible from the Help menu.

Word mail merge files: Download the NStoWord.zip file and unzip it to a location on your hard drive. The files are in a folder called NStoWord, so just unzip the folder. See the manual for directions on using Word files with NoteSmith.

Registration files: Some versions of Windows do not register the NoteSmith files properly when they are installed. Download the file NSUtilities.zip, unzip it, then double click the appropriate file for your operating system.
